I am too excited by DADT's repeal to write any fanfic that's not about Jack/Daniel or Daniel/Cam or Sam/Janet or Sam/Vala or John/Rodney celebrating. But I have a Daniel/Vala Gift Exchange due Monday, so AUGH.

I feel the same way today as I felt when the Cold War ended, when apartheid was abolished in South Africa, and when the Berlin Wall came down.

Hello? Over 13,000 people were dishonorably discharged because of this utterly stupid 17-year policy.

OMG I AM EXCITE.

I think the lawsuit which got it declared unconstitutional by a federal judge lit the proverbial fire beneath the Democrats' asses, especially since this administration went through some rather pitiful (and distasteful) stall tactics to try to get some counseling and anti-harassment policies hammered out before the law was wiped out entirely. That's ALL the appeal of the ruling was about: buying time.

Then there's the fact that some of the Democrats had to suddenly realize that if they wanted to get SOMETHING done, they'd have to do it before the Geriatric Obstructionists' Party took over the House.

Good points. Our two-party system makes me RAGEY, because there are always more than 2 sides to complex issues; factionalism reduces everything to black & white without allowance for gray.

I've had to deal with being "represented" by Mitch "Odo the Shapeshifter" McConnell for years... that backronym fits him perfectly.
