Don't Bash Lesbians to Protest the AT&T/T-Mobile Merger
My hatred of multinational corporations & monopolistic greed is no secret, and my F-List have endured my rants against AT&T, especially against the inevitable AT&T/T-Mobile merger. I subscribe to several consumer action newsletters, and am upset by the FreePress-sponsored SaveTheInternet.com's recent attempt to raise consumer awareness at the upcoming AT&T monopoly BY BASHING LESBIANS.
I realize that using the "Mean Girls" trope is supposed to be funny, but dammit, I don't want negative portrayals of women in power as much as I dread a single telecommunications company controlling its entire market.

This one's not so bad; I like it:

I do agree that female friendship has epic FAIL all over it in all media. Even in Stargate. And male friendship comes across slashy--not that I object but it irks me when it isn't slashy and people explain the friendhsip away in sexual terms. Like for example, Jack and Jacob. Or even Teal'c and Jack who I won't slash. Just my opinion. And I am an opinionated bitch--does that make me "masculine"?

Jack/Jacob is as squicky as Bra'tac/Teal'c to me, although not for the age difference, but for the father-mentor relationship. (I do 'ship Jack/Teal'c, though LOL.)
Amanda Tapping had to specifically request that the SG-1 writers make Sam & Janet's (also Sam & Vala's) relationship not antagonistic, which raises warning flags to me about what kind of character arc the Boys at the Bridge had originally planned for the characters. Farscape did a great job adding emotional tension & antagonism between all the characters without reducing the female relationships to catty bitch fights.

I hate it when people say shit like, "She's got a pretty face, for a fat girl." One of my friends in high school had that said of her ALL THE TIME. So much nonsense, so much fail.
