I've listened to "Shell Game" eleventy billion times; I bought the CD and have also transcribed it. I think director Sharon Gosling might've suggested the two "Jackson" changes during the final recording, and Claudia "went with it".

I'm trying to figure whether Vala was using "Jackson" as a sub for "darling" OR was trying to imitate Mitchell without the voice and with body language we can't see.
LOL I have fun imagining the blocking for a lot of the scenes in that book, especially when she says: "I wished I'd packed sunscreen and a bikini: crystal clear green sea, warm orange sand, handsome native boys—" and "I batted my eyelids and did a bit of cooing. Basically, I played the 'unworldly but buxom and pliant' approach right to the hilt. You know how it goes: starry-eyed, hanging on his every word with breathless gasps."
