LIVEJOURNAL: New Navigation Strip
May. 13th, 2011 10:28 pmOh, LJ.
In
lj_maintenance they're all "Oops we changed some stuff haha too bad the site's been slow."
So someone asks WTF happened to my layout?
But no one on LJ's staff replies.
And then in
news they're all "LOL we changed ur nav bar and didn't tell you until we'd done it."

celimood is still active, even though I'm hoping its abuse report count went up because I asked my F-List to report it.
If all my fandom friends weren't here on LJ, I'd be on WordPress.

Date: 2011-05-14 06:14 am (UTC)Also the banner for May, at first I thought, oh hell, a religious banner, but I have reconcilsed that it is ascended Daniel coming to comfort us all about Stargate's demise... :P

Date: 2011-05-14 06:25 am (UTC)The new gold header was the ONLY contestant in the Remixed poll that properly conveyed health & healing (http://remixed.livejournal.com/321784.html):

The rest were kinda cheesy or slightly morbid.

Date: 2011-05-14 03:18 pm (UTC)Do you use a custom layout? That might be why your new navbar is showing up in an unhappy colour?

Date: 2011-05-14 05:15 pm (UTC)The only excuse I can think of that LJ admins don't let volunteers beta-test upcoming UI widgets is because they're afraid spammers would somehow exploit them. I resent how LJ users aren't treated as co-developers and active participants in LJ's growth, but as a commodity to sell to advertisers. :(

The big deal in a mass-migration is basic human psychology:
some people would perceive it as difficult/complicated,
some would refuse because they don't like change, and
some aren't active enough in fandom to see the use in migrating.
Dreamwidth, which has more powerful features, has already fractured the Stargate fandom; the bulk of the slash communities & users have moved there, so it's harder to integrate all the genres into one happy, dysfunctional family where multi-shipping and mending the ancient Shipper Wars can happen easier.

Date: 2011-05-15 07:14 pm (UTC)Dreamwidth has import modules for LiveJournal, InsaneJournal, & JournalFen.
WordPress has import modules for Blogger, Blogroll, Israblog, LiveJournal, Movable Type and TypePad, Posterous, Vox, WordPress, and Yahoo! 360.
Importing is pretty damned easy to do, and I do it to backup my LJ account just in case something horrible happens to LiveJournal.

WP doesn't define "pornographic", so I assume it's just there to cover their asses in case someone files a report or a bunch of sleazy porno sites use WP to promote their hardcore videos.
