I will indeed keep shakespherical in my thoughts, and hope that the prognosis turns out to be better than is feared. Very sad and disturbing news.

She's hoping that it's just internal bleeding as a side effect of HRT. She had an eye procedure done on it 2 weeks ago; after it healed, she could see clear enough (for a couple hours) to consider driving again, and then it suddenly went dark-blurry-strobe-y. If the blood doesn't clear up, she'll have to get a vitrectomy, which she hates. Sucks to have a congenital eye disease, but ophthalmological advances in the past 20 years have worked a few miracles for her. I'm hoping for another.
