Some sly jokester nominated my latest drabble "Halloween at Cam's" for a Words on the Wind award.

Although I'm flattered, it's not the best thing I've ever written (Daniel Jackson would have to be seduced and drunk to dress like Indy), and I'm sure it'll get crushed by anyone else nominated in its category.

I'm asked to select the category, because the nominator didn't. There's no "Crack" as a category, but "Humor" and "Holiday" seem safe enough.

Now the fun begins, because I'm gonna started nominating some of the peeps on my FList!

RE: Words in the Wind, it seems like someone was blanket-nominating every fic to be mentioned in recent editions in sg1_debrief. It's a new awards thingy, but I've chosen not to participate this year (it's a little too ambitious for a first-year program... far too many fandoms).

RE: All Daniel Fic - Not a clue on that! I'm not a staffer for them, so I don't know their acceptance policies... they may not take drabbles OR crack!fic, or it may just be that they don't consider Daniel's role in the drabble to be central enough.

Oh, the stories I could tell about The Spooky Awards (http://www.spookyawards.org/) in The X-Files fandom... vote stuffing, category creation, pimping and whoring, sour grapes...

BTW, The XF has an unconditional repository for all XF fanfic: Gossamer (http://gossamer.org/), which also harvests fic from the alt.tv.x-files.creative (http://groups.google.com/group/alt.tv.x-files.creative/topics) Usenet group. Does the SG-1 fandom have anything on that scale?

Not that I'm aware of... I usually patrol the various archives: Stargate Fan (gen), Alpha Gate (mostly J/D slash and gen, but also other slash and het), Area 52 (all slash), All Daniel Fic, and The LittleVerse (all kidfic)... there's also Heliopolis, but it's mostly Jack/Sam, and is rife with J/S "stealth ship" in the stories marked "gen".

For links to various Daniel-centric authors (I recommend anything by Jmas, joag, devra, or Travelling One), there's Daniel Fic.
