campylobacter: Geek Sexy Daniel (geek-sexy)

Some of you on my FList might suspect this, but one of my big kinks is polyglots. The more foreign languages come out of someone's mouth, the more I swoon. Hence, my unreasonable fangrrling over Daniel Jackson.

Then I find this bit of porn: the helmet reveal scene from Prometheus Unbound IN GERMAN. OMFG. Daniel protesting "Nein, nein... nicht!" and Vala answering IN GERMAN and Daniel saying "Ein gluck."

I don't know who the vocal talent are doing the German ADR, but they cast actors with damned sexy voices. (The first 10 seconds are just the vid ripper's very weird sig.)

Only thing sexier is Daniel speaking po Russki -- I totally fall off my chair when he speaks Russian in Continuum.

I love the idea of actually seeing Daniel speaking all those languages he claimed to know, sadly, I cannot explore this, Latin was my most knowledgeable of the 'Mags knows a little bit about alot of things re: languages', so after Carmina Burana, I'm all out. :P

Now, Mags, you can just cheat the way I do... take a language, jack it up beyond all recognition, and have Daniel claim vowel shifts, localized dialects, etc. It's great fun, and no one can really call you out on not knowing the language!

Srsly! Cleo's right. Mallozzi, Wright, Cooper et al. faked ancient Egyptian (for Goa'uld & Abydonian) and Latin (for Ancient/Atlantean) -- why can't fanfic authors? That way, you can ignore all those pesky grammatical rules such as noun declensions and verb participles. Or just make all aliens SPEAK ENGLISH. o_0

OMG that's an awesome link! Looks like he helped Emmerich & Devlin with the 1st movie (http://www.anth.ucsb.edu/faculty/stsmith/hollywood.html), and the TV series has suffered without his input. :-(

I'm swooning over the list of books that have a 90% chance of being ones that Dr. Jackson would have in his personal library (http://www.anth.ucsb.edu/faculty/stsmith/publications/index.html).

He also helped with the series even though it's not mentioned on his site. He wrote the Ancient Egyptian for Daniel and Apophis' host in Serpent's Song and Daniel's Abydonian in Forever in a Day.

Man those books look intriguing.
