dvfan requested a "John Sheppard as a fireman" manip for her Stargate Atlantis story, so I thought I'd take a stab at him. Before Rodney gets jealous and insults me.
Okay, colour me confused...what did that pic of MS have to do with JF's resemblance to Mantooth? Same year as your mother?...so what decade were you born in?
Ahh...the year MLK was killed...'k...that explains it...Mantooth was in 'Emergency'(about paramedics)in the early 70s...it was probably finished around about or maybe even before you turned 10...understandable then that you don't know him.
I had a crush on Don Adams of "Maxwell Smart" when it ran in syndication while I was a pre-teen. I've always had a thing for geeks and nerds.
I told shakespherical that I had reservations over the manip not representing Shep as lean or as "furry" as Joe Flanigan is in RL, but I think the abs and forearms of steel distracted her. ;-)
I loved Randy Mantooth when I was 10. I wanted to bear his children. He is 65 this year. For more on the many faces of Randy Mantooth I send all of you youngin's here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbTGzfOh8EQ
OMG, he was in an ep of the old Battlestar Galactica??!!
That's awesome! I just watched the pilot of the 1978 BSG on Hulu 2 nights ago. (Tried not to spork myself at all the Star Wars production design ripoff and the lousy acting.)
It's funny how audiences back then were more into pretty faces than into hard bodies. Mantooth is kinda "soft" in a precious, twinkie sort of way.
My husband calls the old BSG "Battlecrap Laxative" nuf said...and he was a huge FAN! Now about soft bodies, David Hewlett has had various states of softness. Currently he is mighty fine indeed but he is always always adorkable. I love him so much in season 5...so brilliant. He is also hilariously funny in real life. His public apology on Youtube for his Stargate Rap is my favourite. Here are both links: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNjHroPSOOc

Date: 2010-04-27 02:04 am (UTC)I couldn't find any shirtless pix of Manfred, so I uploaded the one of Michael Shanks.
I was born the same year MLK Jr. was assassinated, but I had never heard of that actor before.
