"Beau reminded me a lot of Robert Picardo (Richard Woolsey) – both were very successful, incredibly experienced, and always made it a point to come by our offices to run prospective dialogue changes by us rather than simply surprising us in the dailies. Like Bob, Beau would always make the time to come up and see us to request even the tiniest of changes. Both of them were class acts and I have nothing but terrific memories of working with them." -- Joe Mallozzi 5 June 2011
Beau Bridges & Robert Picardo are AWESOME. Mad props & nothing but love love love to them and what they brought to the franchise.

LOL at "surprising us" with dialog changes in the dailies. Someone's using the Royal We.

Seeing her grapple with going DARKSIDE by authorizing torture for interrogation & medical experimentation on a Wraith makes me love her more -- not because I approve of her decisions, but because it makes her less of a paragon and more of a conflicted, rounded character.

Exactly this! She was perfectly imperfect. She made us question what a normal person - no military training, no higher agenda or influence, what they would do if put in that situation. The idea of putting a woman who ran negotiations and treaties, anti-gun, anti-war in a position where she could not avoid those things, and was in charge of people whom she had to order to carry out thus, it was fascinating stuff.

As for SGU, I was watching the press conference from Fedcon today and RDA was mentioning how SGU was simply not compatible with the rest of the franchise and viewership suffered for it. Couldn't agree more. Of course there were other factors such as the leaked casting calls from season one and the axing of SGA didn't help either.

(I meant to type that I *don't* approve of Weir's decisions regarding torture & live subject experimentation but that it doesn't diminish my love for the character in the least.) So yes, her imperfections make her an intriguing and powerful character.

RDA was mentioning how SGU was simply not compatible with the rest of the franchise

That statement carries a lot of cred, given that RDA built the Stargate franchise from the get-go and nurtured it from its uncertain early seasons. I guess BW & Co. got cocky the more successful the franchise became.

Mostly Stargate SG-1 with an intermittent chance of SGA & The X-Files.
