I agree with you re the character's religious/non religious beliefs, and that would have to be their position given the uber-right Kinsey was one of their earliest foils.
MacGyver sounds like he has some serious issues with women.
And therein lies one of the main elements of the series... you know, aside from MacGyverisms, the cold war, street kids & past life western flash backs. :P
