campylobacter: i can haz metaphor? (metaphor)

So I started writing a Stargate SG-1 Daniel/Vala story (working title: "Bookend") that I fully intended to become a short, rough, dirty smutbiscuit, (approx. 1500 words) and now it's grown into a much longer NC-17 romance, about 5000 words long.

::headdesk::

The Daniel/Vala pairing is such an epic, beautiful mess, in the vein of Mulder/Scully, only with more energy and cosmic tragedy, without the canonical dulling squelch that Chris Carter brings.

Man, I'm losin mah hardcore slash/crack rep because of Dr. Jackson and Vala.

I'm gonna need a couple beta readers for this thing:
- canon up to "Continuum",
- typo-spotter,
- characterization detector,
- title/summary advisor,
- FanFiction.net abridgment editor

Not sure what the best tech interface would be for this: email, Google Docs, a beta board?

Any volunteers? ::crickets::

Okay okay I give - I'm going to have to look up and find out who Daniel/Vala are right now. Are they in the McGyver Stargate universe or some other incarnation?

*waggles fingers* I'll be happy to give it a lookin' over.

I still swear I'm not a Daniel/Vala 'shipper, but boy those two have fun (and look good!) together.

Stargate SG1. When will you start watching this show? Yes, I know it's over. Whatever.

In the meantime, I patiently await the results of the beta.

Thanks for volunteering!

OK, I'm in the middle of converting the whole thing from 3rd person Daniel POV past tense to 1st person Daniel POV present tense after I got to the Sanskrit part, because you can't write about Sanskrit in the past tense.

Anyway, it may be a day or so for me to email you my final draft. I have the second sex scene and some segues to compose.

Yeah, about that McGyver thing. I didn't watch Stargate SG-1 while it was active because I didn't like the McGyver mullet, even though Richard Dean Anderson had a military haircut on the show.

It took the immensely hot Claudia Black as Vala to get me watching, and that happened after the series had ended and I was flippin thru TV channels. She and Michael Shanks as Daniel Jackson totally steamed up my TV screen.

Y'know what's cool? Gillian Anderson, Claudia Black, and Michael Shanks had all done a lot of Shakespeare before they hit the big time. This makes my degree in Theatre feel not so alien.

Oh, duh on me.

FanFiction.net doesn't want "NC-17" type stuff on their servers (they have advertising), so I was wondering what other authors do when a chapter or two in a longish story gets explicit.

Do they tell readers to go to their blog, or do they [bleep] the dirty words? Cuz I've got f-bombs and other Anglo-Saxon gems in there.

Hulu hates Canadians, but [Unknown site tag] pointed me in the direction of this site http://www.piggymoo.com/stargate/. Just watched the Prometheus Bound ep and it was a lot of fun.

ZOMG Is that much free episode viewing legal? LOL

But Prometheus Unbound, holy crap, yes, is the mother lode of cast members who wanna sex Dr. Jackson.

It starts deliciously slashy -- Jack & General Hammond are fighting over who gets Daniel:

JACK: With all due respect, sir, I think you should tell the mission commander that I need Daniel right here. [....]

HAMMOND: Doctor Jackson, you're with me.

And then Vala gets her hooks in him and dude, it's crack porn on an epic scale complete with fight!sex and OMG the DVD commentary is priceless, too.

::swoon::

Chris Carter never delivered the goods on a scale such as that. Vince Gilligan's "Bad Blood" came close, though -- full of awesome quotes. And of course, my favorite, "Killswitch", written by William Gibson.

Friend/de-Friend/Ban me = it's all good.

Fandom's more fun when you're an equal-opportunity pervert (multi-shipper). Set porn goggles to maximum!

Mostly Stargate SG-1 with an intermittent chance of SGA & The X-Files.
